United Kingdom Shinwakai

History

UK Shinwakai was formed, in 1993, under the direction of Sensei Jack Poole 7th dan, who holds senior grades in both Yoshinkan and Aikikai styles of Aikido. The Association was established to pursue the study of Aikido through the incorporation of the structure and discipline of Yoshinkan, with the flowing movements of Traditional Aikido. Sensei Poole also wished to promote a true family spirit within the Association and over the years other like minded organisations have joined and regularly train together, in harmony. There are now 4 organisations, each headed by their own Chief Instructor, who offer traditional, and Yoshinkan training throughout the south of England. Whilst each organisation retains responsibility for its own teaching and gradings they meet corporately, as the Heads of Shinwakai, to promote the overall management and development of the Association. The UK Shinwakai is affiliated to the Aikido Yoshinkan and the International Aikido Federation.
