DBS Update Service

This new service allows you to keep your DBS check updated and take it with you from role to role, within the same workforce, where the same type and level of check is required. If you obtain a DBS check for paid work and you join the Update Service then people wishing to use you in the same workforce but as a volunteer may access the check information (but it would not be possible to do it the other way round). Check this DBS YouTube video for more information You can register for the service when you apply for your check – or within 14 days from the date on your Disclosure. Please note: you cannot ‘back track’ registrations — you can only register for the Update Service when you are in the process of applying for a DBS check. You cannot register and ‘bring in’ an existing CRB check. It is free for volunteers and £13 a year for those in a paid role. Click HERE to register. It is not mandatory for applicants to join the update service and nor is it mandatory for the BAB to use it. However, the BAB’s current stance is to strongly recommend that applicants do register. Based on current information we feel it will be beneficial to both the applicant and the BAB.
