How could we live without clocks,
 
My class would all arrive late. We could over run and be charged more and at London rates that hurts. But mainly when would we know when to go to the pub!
 
We do more aikido in the pub and on the mat, but then my class is filling up with ageded Aikido players. Smile

I agree with Bob and Dazzler as well, without a clock my classes would tend to overrun very easily. Mind you, only my students can answer the question on whether they are clock watching or not! ;)

As a club instructor, I couldn't keep to my lesson plan without the aid of a clock. Maybe it's different if you just wing it. Either way, if the class are absorbed in what is being taught the time just flies past. Start and finish times should also be punctual, incidentally maximising the time available for the highly  important apres class debrief and crisps.

At my club are about 50/50 split on whether there should be a clock in the dojo
Some say it leads to clock watching others say they like to pace themselves over the session
It would be interesting to find out some more views
If you reply to this query it makes more sense if you say if you are an instructor or a student
