I come across so many Aikido people who do not realise that Chiba Sensei still come to the UK at least once a year to teach at Summer Schools. How amazing and crazy is that?

Considering that he is the only direct disciple of O-Sensei who regularly teaches here I would encourage all to take advantage. Did you know that he was not only an uchi-deshi at Aikikai Hombu but was an actual disciple? - personally accompanying O-Sensei on most of his travels and trips during a 6 to 7 year period, taking ukemi, carrying his bags...

Chiba Sensei, now 68 years old, was sent to the UK in 1966 by O-Sensei to disseminate his teachings. He is the father of all four Aikikai Aikido organisations in this country.

This year Chiba Sensei will be teaching at the British Birankai (British Aikikai) Summer School at Worcester University. He will be joined by T Miyamoto Shihan from Hombu Dojo.

The course is OPEN TO ALL. Details here:

I'm really looking forward to the camp this year, both for the teaching and the new venue. The sports hall at Worcester University is huge, with a sprung wooden floor, and we'll have 600 mats down. More than enough space for all.
