This past weekend I attended the CL1 course with two aikidoka from our club along with a couple dozen others from various associations and affiliations.

I just wanted to say that as someone who was expecting the experience to be generally dry (due to subject matter as opposed to the tutors of course!) I was very pleasantly surprised that it was conducted in such a way that I came back feeling invigorated and pleased to have been able to be a part of it.

The theory day was conducted in a way that kept me interested and I didn't even feel inclined to nod off - something that class room settings can very easily do for me ;). Steve and Ann both were very good at trying to get as much input and involvement from people without rushing but managed to keep us on track and finished within the times.

Not being native to the area we stayed in a nearby hotel and were kindly given directions by Ann and Steve to meet up with the locals and course participants who were around in the evening. It was great to be made to feel so welcome and I know I can speak at least for my fellow dojo members who attended by saying that we had a lovely evening.

The practical sessions were good with a good variety of scenarios and considerations to be taken into account presented well by the organisers and, despite my nerves etc, I very much enjoyed the experience of both actively taking part and being able to be involved with the other attendees.

I am very glad I attended and hope that the others who were there agree with me.

I would like to extend warm thanks not only to Steve and Ann, for presenting the course professionally without losing the warmth and friendly nature they have, but also the members of their dojo for coming along to help out and the other attendees, whom I hope to see again in the near future on a mat somewhere.

Kind regards
Rich Hobbs

Thanks for your comments, Both Ann and I are only too pleased  to hear that you enjoyed yourselves, the best way to learn is in a friendly enviroment. The course went well because we had a group of people that wanted to get involed. I must say thank you to my own club members who came and helped on the assessment day, But then they get a days free training from lots of new coaches to be and lots of new and interesting techniques.

Thanks again and hope to train withe you all again in the future
