Hello everyone, I was living in Thailand until quite recently. Just before I left to return to the UK I was introduced to Aikido through a friend. The style was Nishio. I am now located in Herefordshire and wondered if anyone knew of a Dojo which practices Nishio in the Herefordshire/West Mids/Gloucester area. I tried googling it but the only Dojo that turned up was in Sussex, a little far to commute!!
Thanks

Hi

If you are looking for Nishio Style Aikdo, Then maybe you should contact Paul Barker of the Aikido Circle. He has a club in East Sussex and in Chadwell Heath, Essex.  I know these may be a little to far for you to travel too, But I am sure he will advise you if other in the UK follow Nishio San Style.

I have been reliably informed that a senior student of the late Nishio Sensei will be teaching a course in London sometime this summer. This will be the first time that a Senior Exponent (7th Dan Aikikai) of Nishio Sensei's style will be teaching in the UK.
I will be posting details as they become available.

Greetings Citom!

Do you know which senior student of Nishio would be coming to London? I have been to Takao Arisue sensei's seminars in Denmark. Please post for any future nishio aikido seminars here in the UK. Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

as Cito mentioned Takemori Sensei will have a seminar in London this summer (he will hold seminars also in Berlin, Sweden and Finland). There will be more information at the web page when we'll get everything organised, but the dates are agreed with sensei: Thu 30th July to Sun 2nd August. We'll try to find a venue in central London so that it will be convenient for as many aikidokas as possible.

Takemori Sensei was Nishio Sensei's student and assistant for many years. In the next clip from the Aikido Friendship Demonstration he takes ukemi for Nishio Sensei (I think this is from 1985 or something):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GR2LX9cGcEc

(Unfortunately I didn't find any clips where he's teaching...)

All Mod Cons: our small group train in London which is probably too far for you, and apart Aikido Circle I haven't heard any other groups training Nishio Sensei's way of aikido in the UK. But if/when you'll visit London next time you are of course welcome to join our training.
