Hi All

This is a request for help on behalf of one of my students.

Laura Cunningham is currently in her 3rd year of her Duel Honors Martial Arts Degree at Buxton University in Derbyshire. When Laura completes her Degree not only will she be the first Aikidoka to have completed the course but the first female to have done so.

Below is a copy of Laura's email request to the Chairman of the Kai Shin Kai.

She is looking for females over the age of 18 at all grades and experience.

I have not posted Luara's contact email so should any one wish to help then please PM me and I will pass on her contact details and a copy of the short questionnaire.

Many thanks in advance for any help offered.

Andy

Hi my name is Laura Cunningham, i train in Aikido under Sensei Andy McLean, I am currently in my 3rd year of a martial arts theory and practice and physical health and activity BA joint honors degree at the University of Derby, Buxton. For the purpose of my degree i am required to produce an independent study also known as a dissertation.

The area which i am focusing on is martial arts, in particular Aikido. The working title is: "What are the perceived barriers and motivational aspects for females who participate or would like to participate in Aikido?

I am emailing you to see if there are any statistics that you can provide on the number of participating females within Aikido, past and present.

Also as chair of Kai Shin Kai are you able to support me in giving out questionnaires to females within Kai Shin Kai who participate in aikido to aid in my research.

If any more information is required please do not hesitate to email me.

Thank you for any help that you are able to give me.

Laura Cunningham
