Alan Fleet`s multiple-award winning short film Giri, which stars Terry Ezra Shihan, 7th Dan (Hombu),
and Terry O`Neill, 7th Dan Shotokan Karate, has been short-listed for the Insight Faith Film Festival
and will screen in competition on 3/4th December 2011 in Manchester.
The festival is open to films which promote a greater understanding of faith, religious or otherwise.
Giri takes samurai Values and places them firmly in the present-day by addressing the contentious
issue of assisted death, a subject rarely out of the news.
In using genuine martial artists and references to Hagakure: The Book of the Samurai, Giri captures
the essence of the samurai and in a very powerful way promotes a deeper understanding of the martial
arts in contrast to the vast number of `action` films.

Alan Fleet is a Yudansha in the BAF and a BAB coach.
